Self Control is this week’s virtue.

The definition of self control is control over one’s own impulses, emotions, or acts.

This week, I paid attention, observed, and was intentional of myself control and others.  On my part-while at work, a coworker was becoming annoying to me with his consistent and obnoxious chatter about the food products and prices- this is an everyday thing, however, I was working directly with him on this day.  I used self control in not saying anything to stoke the fire nor to tell him to shut up.  He hasn’t any self control over what he says nor how loud he says it.  Frankly, knowing that we all have 6 weeks left at this j.o.b., our attitudes are changing, some positively and some negatively, sometimes both at the same time.  I would find myself thinking to myself or talking to myself saying “I will be missing…” or “I won’t be missing…”.  I’m sure that this will be coming up soon in another virtue that we will be exploring, with more detail.  Anyway, this week, I also felt that I lost self control by responding to a question that turned into a political thread on a social media outlet.  I do my best to scroll right by it, however, this time, I felt the need to add in my two cents- it was only a few words and it did answer is question.  Over the last few weeks, I found myself losing self control in not getting in all of the MKE readings and exercises done.  I am using self control with the ongoings of registration, the platform that it’s running on, and with the team’s questions and needs for a competition that I am working this weekend.  In the end, it will all work out fine.  Many drivers are losing self control on the roadways- why the constant rush to get somewhere yesterday?

Think about your actions/non actions from this week- how have you used or expressed self control this week?  Observing others?  How have you lost self control this week?  Observing others?  I’d love to see what you come up with.  Enlighten me.

Next week’s virtue is another doozy…
