Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days… I can definitely relate to this. Hearing from so many people that they need more time in the day. That was me in the past, having things to do during the day and only getting a few of them done. Where did the time go? Why didn’t I accomplish more? I forgot to do this and that. I was pretty scattered. Now I don’t complain anymore, I just solve the problem. One way for getting the most done during our waking hours is to list build- daily. The evening before or early in that morning, make a list of what absolutely needs to be accomplished. This should be a short list. Better yet, time schedule it with a start time and an end time. Many successful entrepreneurs get their most important goals done first thing in the morning. Then, add other items to your list that you’d like to get done in between meetings or after your short list is completed. As you complete each item on your list, cross it off, and more importantly, celebrate each time- you deserve it. Whether it’s a “Yes!” or a “Done!”, a short break, a small snack, or whatever floats your boat and gets you excited for the next item on your list. You will find that you will get more accomplished in a shorter amount of time, with time to spare. Share that time with family, friends, or time for yourself to celebrate a day with much accomplished.
Be grateful and thankful for what you got done during the day and for those that may have helped you along the way. Don’t fret or get down on yourself if you didn’t get everything done on your “I’d also like to do” list- just add it to the next day’s list with more importance. Also, don’t fill up your list to the point to where there is no way that you can achieve it all in your waking hours- this can lead to doubt and negativity. The goal is to make a doable list and get it done with time to spare.
Speaking of goals- you should have a list of short term (a few weeks to 6 months), mid term (6 months to 2 years), long term (2+ years), and lifetime (your ultimate goals) goals. Your daily lists should include step by step work to accomplish your short term and mid term goals. This leads to manifesting your long term and lifetime goals.
