This week, I’ll be continuing a series on the health benefits of certain liquids and foods that I have on a daily basis or often.

The second of the series is my “first thing in the morning” beverage, drinking it after my meditations, while I get ready for work, on my way to work, and on the way home from work later in the afternoon – Lemon Water.

Lemon water is a simple and refreshing drink that can offer many health benefits. Lemon water is made by squeezing fresh lemons into water, or by adding lemon slices or wedges to water. You can drink it hot or cold, depending on your preference. Personally, I use a high quality lemon essential oil. It’s quick and easy- a few drops of lemon essential oil in 24 oz of alkaline, antioxidant, and hydrogen rich water in my metal water bottle and I am good to go.

Some of the health benefits of lemon water are:
• It boosts your immune system.
Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which is essential for fighting infections and keeping your immune system strong. Vitamin C also helps your body absorb iron from plant sources, which can prevent anemia.

• It aids digestion.
Lemons contain citric acid, which stimulates the production of saliva and gastric juices in your mouth and stomach. This can help you digest your food better and prevent indigestion, bloating, and constipation.

• It hydrates your body.
Water is vital for every function of your body, from regulating your temperature to flushing out toxins. Drinking lemon water can help you stay hydrated and replenish your electrolytes, especially after exercise or sweating. As I noted earlier, I drink it on the way home from work. I am constantly bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling at work, so I consider that my exercise.

• It improves your skin.
Vitamin C is also important for collagen synthesis, which is the main protein that gives your skin its structure and elasticity. Drinking lemon water can help you maintain healthy and glowing skin by preventing wrinkles, sagging, and dryness.

• It supports weight loss.
Lemon water can help you feel full and reduce your appetite, which can prevent overeating and snacking. Lemon water can also boost your metabolism and increase your energy levels, which can help you burn more calories and fat.

Lemon water is easy to make and enjoy at any time of the day. You can add some honey, ginger, mint, or cucumber to enhance its flavor and benefits. I often use lemon water as the base liquid in my iced tea.

However, be careful not to drink too much lemon water, as it can erode your tooth enamel and cause acid reflux.

You should also consult your doctor before drinking lemon water if you have any medical conditions or allergies.

Lemon water is a natural and delicious way to improve your health and wellness.

Try it today and see how it makes you feel!

See you next week!
