Over the last seven weeks, we explored, in detail, the main chakras. Expanding from the chakras, is the Aura.

The Aura, Our Luminous Presence
The concept of auras has fascinated humanity for centuries, transcending cultures and spiritual practices. An aura is believed to be an ethereal field of subtle, luminous radiation that surrounds a person or object. An aura is a manifestation of the energy that emanates from every living entity, reflecting the intricate interplay of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual states. The aura is often described as a multi-layered sphere of energy that extends around the body for several feet. At its core, the aura is said to be composed of various colors, each representing different aspects of an individual’s personality, mood, health, and spirituality. These colors are not static; they can fluctuate and change in response to one’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

The Interpretation of the Aura Colors
It varies among different practices, some general associations include:
Red: Often associated with passion, energy, and vitality.
Orange: Linked to creativity, joy, and the emotional body.
Yellow: Represents intellect, personal power, and confidence.
Green: Associated with healing, growth, and the heart.
Blue: Reflects communication, expression, and truth.
Indigo: Tied to intuition, insight, and the third eye.
Violet: Connected to spiritual awareness, wisdom, and enlightenment.

The Layers of the Aura
The aura is comprised of multiple layers, each corresponding to different aspects of our being. The most commonly accepted model includes seven layers, each linked to a specific chakra or energy center within the body. These layers interact with each other, influencing an individual’s overall well-being.
1. The Etheric Layer- This is the first layer of the aura, closest to the physical body. It’s connected to our physical health and well-being, reflecting the condition of our body and its energy levels.
2. The Emotional Layer- As the name suggests, this layer is associated with our emotions. It holds the energy of our feelings and can fluctuate with our emotional state.
3. The Mental Layer- This layer is linked to our thoughts, beliefs, and mental processes. It’s where our ideas and attitudes are thought to reside, influencing our mental health and clarity.
4. The Astral Layer- Often considered the bridge between the physical and spiritual realms, the astral layer is associated with love and relationships. It’s also the layer through which we connect with others on an energetic level.
5. The Etheric Template- This layer is a blueprint of the physical body on a higher vibrational level. It holds the template for our physical existence and is thought to influence our physical growth and development.
6. The Celestial Layer- This layer is connected to our intuition, spiritual awareness, and experiences of bliss. It’s where we access higher states of consciousness and spiritual insights.
7. The Spiritual Layer- The final layer is said to be the connection to the divine, the universe, or whatever higher power one believes in. It’s the layer that guides our purpose and our connection to the cosmos.

Techniques to See Auras
The ability to see auras, the fields of energy that surround each of us, while some individuals can naturally possess this ability, others seek to develop it through various techniques. Seeing auras is not something that typically happens overnight. It requires practice, patience, and a willingness to trust in the process. Some individuals may find it easier than others, but with dedication, many can develop the ability to some extent.

Some Methods That Help In Perceiving Auras
1. Soft Gaze Method- The soft gaze technique is perhaps the most fundamental approach to seeing auras. It involves defocusing your eyes slightly and looking past the subject. This method requires patience and practice, as it can take time for your eyes to adjust and for the aura to become visible. A common practice is to have a person stand against a white background, which can help in distinguishing the aura’s colors.
2. Peripheral Vision Training- Our peripheral vision is thought to be more sensitive to detecting auras. One way to train this is by focusing on a fixed point and using your peripheral vision to observe the space around it. This can be practiced with colored circles on a screen or with your own hands against a neutral background.
3. Energy Sensing- Before visual perception, some suggest it’s essential to feel the energy first. This can involve exercises like rubbing your hands together to create warmth and energy and then slowly moving them apart to sense the energy field between them. This technique is often recommended as a precursor to visual aura perception.
4. Meditation and Mindfulness- Clearing the mind through meditation can enhance one’s sensitivity to auras. Mindfulness practices help in tuning into the present moment and can increase awareness of subtle energies. Some also recommend using crystals like clear quartz or amethyst during meditation to amplify psychic vision.
5. Aura Photography- This technique uses special cameras to capture the energy field around a person, often resulting in a colorful depiction of their aura.
6. Third Eye Activation- The third eye, located in the center of the forehead, is the seat of intuition and psychic vision. Some exercises focus on activating this area, such as gently massaging the forehead or focusing on the space between the eyebrows during meditation.
7. Practice with Nature- Practicing aura perception with plants and trees can be a gentle way to begin. The natural energy of living things might be easier to detect and can serve as a good starting point for beginners.
8. Tutorials and Workshops- There are numerous online resources, including video tutorials and workshops, that provide step-by-step guidance on how to see auras. These can be particularly helpful for visual learners and those who appreciate structured learning environments.

Cleansing the Aura
Balancing or cleansing the aura is considered by many to be a key aspect of maintaining spiritual and emotional well-being. Our aura interacts with the energies of those around us, which can lead to imbalances when absorbing negative energies. Techniques for aura balancing can include meditation, visualization of light, and the use of crystals such as black tourmaline and selenite. These practices aim to clear out emotional-energetic blockages, allowing for a more harmonious state of being. While the frequency of such practices may vary from person to person, incorporating them into a regular routine can help in achieving a balanced aura.

Reiki Energy Healing is one of the practices that involves the cleansing of the aura. This holistic healing technique is rooted in the idea that a practitioner channels universal life energy to the recipient to enhance the body’s natural healing processes. The practice aims to clear blockages in the energy flow, balance the chakras, and raise the individual’s vibrational energy, which can lead to improved physical and emotional well-being. Techniques used in Reiki for aura balancing include hands-on healing, where the practitioner lightly places their hands over the body, as well as distance healing and guided meditation. Many individuals report feeling more relaxed and balanced after sessions, suggesting potential benefits in stress reduction and emotional healing.

Understanding the aura can provide insight into our holistic health, encompassing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of our lives.
